For the iOS / iPadOS version
Memory Helper Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
Memory Helper is operated by 温州云忆剑影科技有限公司 (referred to as “we” or “us” in this policy). This policy explains how the iOS / iPadOS version and its related account, sync, and content services handle your personal information. System permissions and features may differ on other platforms; please refer to the policy for the relevant platform.
If you have questions about this policy or the handling of your personal information, or wish to exercise your rights, please contact memoryhelper@163.com.
1. Local Use and Accounts
You can use the local memory and review features without registering an account. The app stores the titles, text, images, categories, tags, review curves, review schedules, and completion records you create, along with related preferences, on your device. Local learning data is not uploaded through the account sync service; using Discover, shared content, or other online features still generates the corresponding network requests.
When you choose to register or sign in with an email address, change your password, or delete your account, we process the email address, password, and verification information you provide to verify your identity, manage your account, and send verification or password reset emails. We also process information such as your account ID, nickname, sign-in credentials, email verification status, and membership status. The app stores sign-in credentials to maintain your session.
When you choose Sign in with Apple, the app requests an account identifier, name, and email address from Apple; the information actually available depends on your authorization and what Apple returns. The app sends your Apple account identifier and the name used to set your nickname to our server to create or sign in to your Memory Helper account.
When you choose to sign in with or link WeChat, the app initiates authorization through the WeChat Open SDK and sends the temporary authorization code to our server. We process your WeChat account identifier and authorized information to identify and link accounts. You may revoke third-party authorization and choose to sign in by email or use the app locally. The ability to link or unlink an account depends on how it was registered; revoking authorization on a third-party platform does not delete your Memory Helper account.
2. Sync, Images, and Files
After you sign in, the app uploads learning data to the server through automatic or manual sync and updates it across devices using the same account. Synced content includes memory entry titles and text, creation times, categories and tags, review curves, review times and completion status, image attachments and their relationships, as well as record identifiers, update times, and deletion markers.
Images are stored on your device and uploaded and downloaded using Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service. When you import images, PDF files, or Excel files, the app reads the files you select or provide to create memory entries and attachments; imported learning content and images can be synced with your account. Files you export or share through the system are sent to the save location or recipient you choose.
Account sync requires the server to process the content you upload. This service does not promise end-to-end encryption or that the server cannot read synced content. Please take care when entering or sharing sensitive information about yourself or others.
When a memory entry contains external image links, displaying the content may send requests to the websites hosting those images. Those websites receive the network information needed to establish a connection and the parameters in the links; their privacy rules apply to these visits.
3. Discover, Sharing, and Interactions
When you search for, view, or download shared content, we process your search text, language and filter settings, content identifiers, and the corresponding viewing or downloading actions to provide content and update related counts. Some public content features are available without signing in.
When you choose to publish shared content, the app submits its name, description, language, keywords, visibility settings, and the learning content you select; images and downloadable content files may also be uploaded. Other users can discover and access public works. Content shared through a link may also be accessible to anyone who obtains the link and should not be considered visible only to you.
When you post comments or replies, like content, or submit reports, we process the relevant content, target identifiers, and account associations. Works and comments are displayed according to their visibility settings and may include your nickname. Reports are used to address the issues raised. In-app messages display interactions or service notices related to your account.
Copies of images in shared content may be stored publicly and accessed through links. These public image copies are not automatically deleted when you delete a work, change its visibility, or delete your account; these actions also cannot retrieve copies that others have already downloaded, saved, or forwarded. If you need assistance, please contact us at the email address in this policy and provide enough information to locate the content.
4. Purchases and Membership
When you purchase or restore membership benefits, Apple handles payment through its system purchase service. We process product information, transaction identifiers, purchase status, and their association with your Memory Helper account to verify transactions, grant or update benefits, handle refunds or revocations, and prevent duplicate grants. The app provides Apple with an identifier used to associate purchases with your account in our service and submits transaction identifiers to our server.
Apple handles payment accounts, payment authentication, and bank card information under its own rules. We do not collect your bank card number through the app. Deleting your account and canceling an Apple subscription are separate actions; if you have an active auto-renewing subscription, please manage it separately in Apple's subscription settings.
When you use membership or invitation features, we process membership expiration dates, benefit status, invitation codes, and related reward records to provide those services. Information necessary for transactions and after-sales support may be retained in accordance with applicable law and the purposes of processing. The current account deletion process does not automatically delete Apple transaction records. These records may continue to retain transaction identifiers, the original Memory Helper account ID, and refund times; not all associations between these records and the account are removed when the account is deleted.
5. Device Permissions and System Features
Photos and camera: When you select images, take photos to add attachments, or save images, the app requests the relevant permissions as required by the system and processes the content you select. You can manage permissions in system settings; denying a permission may affect the corresponding feature but does not prevent you from using features that do not depend on it.
Notifications: The app requests notification permission and provides the system with review times and the information needed for reminders to send local reminders. Notifications, the lock screen, or widgets may display memory entry titles, review tasks, and progress. Please manage system display settings and notification permissions as needed.
Read aloud and shortcuts: When you choose to use read aloud, the text is processed by Apple's system speech synthesis feature; when you add Siri shortcuts, the relevant action information is provided to the system. The app does not request microphone access to record your voice for these features. Apple manages the system services and speech resources.
Clipboard: When you paste into an input field, the app reads the text or images you provide; when you choose to copy notes, comments, or sharing links, the app writes the corresponding content to the clipboard. The app does not collect information by continuously reading the clipboard in the background.
Network: Online features such as accounts, sync, image transfers, and Discover require the receiving services to process communication information, such as IP addresses, needed to establish a connection.
6. Service Providers and Feedback
Alibaba Cloud: We use Alibaba Cloud services and its Object Storage SDK to provide servers, data and image storage and transfers, and account verification and password reset emails. Depending on the feature, these services process account information, synced content, images, recipient email addresses, and information needed for communication.
WeChat: We use the WeChat Open SDK provided by 深圳市腾讯计算机系统有限公司 to support WeChat sign-in or account linking when you choose these options. This includes checking whether WeChat is available, initiating authorization, and processing authorization results. WeChat handles its platform account and SDK service information under its own rules.
Apple: Features such as Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, system notifications, widgets, read aloud, and shortcuts use services provided by Apple. Apple handles the relevant platform information under its privacy rules.
When you start a feedback email from the app, the app version and system version may be filled in automatically; you decide whether to edit and send it. The email address, feedback, screenshots, or diagnostic materials you choose to provide are used to contact you and investigate issues. Please check for unrelated personal information before sending.
We do not sell your personal information. When we entrust service providers with processing personal information, we require them to process it within the agreed purposes and scope and take appropriate protective measures. If providing information, publicly disclosing it, or other processing requires additional consent by law, we will notify you separately and obtain the required consent. When providing information to competent authorities as required by law, or when a merger, reorganization, or similar change results in a new recipient, we fulfill our notification, protection, and other obligations under applicable law.
7. Retention and Security
Local data is stored on your device, and the account and sync services use Alibaba Cloud services to store the corresponding data. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes described in this policy; information that must be retained by law is handled in accordance with the relevant requirements.
After learning content is deleted, the server records a deletion marker so that other devices can sync the deletion. Fields such as the title and text may remain in the corresponding record; a deletion marker does not mean that this content has been physically deleted. To request further deletion of this information, please contact us. Backups, public image copies, and transaction records are not guaranteed to be cleared along with routine content deletions; see the relevant sections of this policy for the scope of their processing.
We use measures such as encryption in transit and access controls to protect information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, or loss. No system can guarantee absolute security; if a personal information security incident occurs, we will take response measures and fulfill our notification obligations as required by law.
If changes to our business involve cross-border transfers for which separate notification, consent, or other procedures are legally required, we will meet the applicable requirements before carrying out the relevant processing.
8. Your Rights and Account Deletion
You can view, edit, and delete learning content in the app, manage editable account details on the account information page, and manage permissions such as photos, camera, and notifications in system settings. To access, correct, obtain a copy of, or delete personal information, withdraw consent, or exercise other rights under applicable law, you can contact memoryhelper@163.com. After any necessary identity verification, we will handle your request in accordance with the law and inform you of the outcome.
You can request account deletion under “Settings → Close Account” and verify your account or confirm the action as instructed on the page. After the server successfully processes the request, it clears account information, learning records, private attachments, and related posts, comments, and messages as part of the account deletion process; the retention of public image copies and transaction records is described above. Signing out or completing cleanup on this device does not mean that the server data, backups, and all copies have been deleted at the same moment. Please contact us if you need to confirm the outcome or cannot delete your account yourself.
Signing out clears the account state and related service data on this device, but does not delete your server account; uninstalling the app does not delete your account either. Please take care of any unsynced data before signing out or uninstalling. Signing out on this device alone does not automatically invalidate all account sessions on other signed-in devices.
Disabling a system permission only stops features that depend on it and does not automatically delete data already synced. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing lawfully carried out before withdrawal. See the relevant sections of this policy for the scope of processing of published content, copies retained by other users, and necessary transaction records.
9. Minors
This app is not designed specifically for children. Minors should read this policy and use the services under a guardian's guidance; where the law requires guardian consent for the processing of personal information, the appropriate consent must be obtained.
If a guardian believes that a child under the age of fourteen has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact memoryhelper@163.com. We will verify the circumstances and handle the relevant information and deletion requests in accordance with the law.
10. Policy Updates and Contact
We may update this policy to reflect features or legal requirements and change the date on this page. For material changes, such as changes to the purposes or methods of processing or the types of information involved, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law. Where renewed consent is required, we will obtain it before the relevant processing begins; merely viewing the policy or continuing to use the services will not be treated as authorization for all new processing.
